12 Days of Christmas 2017 - Day 4: Christmas Cards

Today, I shot two different families' photos for Christmas, both of which turned out beautifully! As I left the house this morning for the location, it got me thinking, what is our intent when we send out Christmas cards? We want to show our love, review the year's highlights, and remind loved ones that we care. In the same way, God shows His love and good deeds to us through His Word. Just as we read other people's Christmas cards or newsletters and learn of the things they did that year, so should we also read God's Word and remember the things He has done. One true story was told four times by four different writers - Jesus' life. That says a lot about the significance of His birth, that God wanted it to be told multiple times. Think about it like this: would news reporters cover a story if they didn't think it was important?

Although the Bible doesn't describe every single thing that happened during Jesus' life (John 21:25), it did mention many events. Like a Christmas newsletter, it highlights the major events that happened, hoping to sketch out a picture of what life was like.

During my photoshoots, do you think every photo captured was a "good" one? No, of course not. Why? Because that's life. Not every single moment is a happy one. Just as there are bad photos among many good ones, so are there bad moments amongst good moments written in Scripture. I mean, just look at Jesus' life. Though He was perfect, nobody treated Him perfectly because they themselves were not perfect. Consequently, Jesus was not treated as He deserved. Just look at His humble entrance to the earth. He was born among animals and shepherds and had no crib but a manger as His bed. And yet...God used that for better things.

So that's my little thought from today. Again, I'm so sorry I've been posting so late! Tomorrow, Leanne Zuiderveen will be posting her thoughts on the Christmas story! Don't miss out!
