Hi, friend! So happy you've landed here. My name is Kaitlyn, and I'm a teen SoCal gal who has a passion for sharing Christ's love through the arts, like photography, design, music and writing (not really your traditional "arts" category but it takes creativity...right?!). I launched The SoCal Gal in June of 2016 as an outlet for my love of both words and teaching and my passion for Jesus. I am challenged to use it as a way to pour into your lives and point you toward Christ with some of the things I've learned on my journey so far. He has been SO faithful over the years, always showing up when I need Him. The more I grow closer to Him, the more I've realized how much grace God has, how good He is, how faithful (SO faithful!!) He is and how much I need to rely on Him. Though I have been unfaithful to God, He has never ceased to be faithful to me. He is steadfast, immovable, full of goodness and grace, and nothing you or I could do will EVER change that. I am so incredibly grateful and I owe my life to Him, and it is my hope that this blog will give Him glory and bring others nearer to our Savior.

Just like you, my story is not finished yet! Every day, I stumble and fall, but God is right there waiting for me to take His hand and get back up. There are many things I've done that I do regret, and I am still learning not to live with shame. I am forgiven and nothing I do can ever separate me from my Father's love! The same goes for you, dear friend! If you are stumbling from things you've done in the past or currently struggle with, know this: "Your past is going to serve as a testimony of God's goodness and how He set you free from your past; you are no longer held captive by your past, but you have been liberated by the Father who loves you." My sweet friend texted me that after I shared how much I was struggling with not feeling good enough. It's a growing process, and there will be ups and downs; God says to expect trials and suffering. But guess what? Through that, we learn, we grow, we are refined. We have two decisions: go through the motions and possibly wander in our wilderness for forty years, or intentionally choose a mindset of trusting in His timing and control and hence experiencing peace and joy despite the pain. I'm still learning to let go of my control and submit to Him. I hope that as I share my story with you on this blog, you will be able to relate and know you're not alone, and your mindset will be shifted closer to that of the Lord's. You are so precious and loved!

Ultimately, my goal for The SoCal Gal is that you will be challenged to intentionally live out your unique, God-given purpose and that you will grow closer to Him. I LOVE hearing from my readers, so drop a comment or contact me via the contact form for suggestions! You can also follow me on Instagram or Facebook at @thesocalgalblog if ya want. Thank you for stopping by! I pray you will choose today and tomorrow to live intentionally with purpose.

    1. Hi, Gloria! That's cool that we like the same music! :) VERIDIA is a newer Christian rock/alternative/indie band with catchy, upbeat tunes and pure lyrics (win-win for me).
Love your blog, by the way! Looks like we have similar beliefs. :D
