Music Monday - I Will Wait for You (Psalm 130) by Shane & Shane
The first time I heard this song was at a church I was visiting. I thought it was one of the most beautiful hymns I'd ever heard.
2020 hasn't been as hopeful as you may have imagined. But in these season where, globally, we are frozen in waiting for life to go on again...here in the waiting, we CAN have hope. We don't have to succumb to the ways of the world, whether that be rebellion against authorities or wallowing in worry and hoarding.
Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
O Israel, hope in the LORD!
For with the LORD there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
And he will redeem Israel
from all of his iniquities.
Does this psalm resonate with you? Have you cried out to Him in prayer? Wished for a different reality? Asked God to take away the virus? Did you take time to wait on the Lord and soak up His Spirit and His peace? You should try it some time!
We're in such a unique period of time and God has given us open doors and made space and time FOR us. What if we used this extra time to grow closer to Him? To truly wait and listen and be in His presence? What if we took the time to simply wait for Him?
I'm challenging YOU and myself as well to INTENTIONALLY set aside time to just. be. with. God. No distractions, no phone, no one around. Just you and God. Your open heart waiting for Him to fill you with His presence and peace. Whatever you're carrying, you are FREE--oh, so free!--to let go of and just give it to God. Anxious thoughts? Tell Him. And then let go of them and be filled with His steadfast love. There is no negative feeling, no negative thought, no negative action that God cannot redeem. Even this nasty virus. God is working in so many ways, dear friend; all you gotta do is look!
